It’s so weird to compare what I was doing one year ago and where I was to the things that are going on right now, present day.

Exactly one year ago, I can’t remember doing anything but watching missed tv shows on abc.com, going to OVT for food every couple hours, mindlessly attending classes, and staying up super late every night doing worthless things. I’m not discounting all the things I’ve experienced and learned and realized but man, how did I think I was “living it up” when really I was unknowingly just running in place?

I loved freshman year. It wasn’t really anything I’d expect or imagine. Who would’ve thought I could endure countless all nighters and numerous amounts of 5 hour energy drinks? Not me. Who would’ve thought I would eat Denny’s at 5am in the morning and start to love pho? Ew, I honestly did not. Who would’ve thought I would get into a relationship freshman year? (Who would’ve thought it would end in a couple months?) I sure as hell didn’t.

But despite all the spontaneity, excitement, fun, and the other stuff, it really can’t add up to the realness of this year. Upperclassmen have always told me their freshman year was good but incomparable to their sophomore year.
And lo’ and behold, I’m starting to know what they mean!

Winter quarter has started.
And I’m excited for what God has in store for me, the Bride, and the rest of us.

There ain’t much more time for petty things anymore!
It’s time to focus on the eternal, Kingdom perspective.

Time to shed off the old and step into the new.
